Flat foot, also known as fallen arches or pes planus, is a condition in which the arch of the foot collapses and flattens out when standing or walking. This can cause pain, discomfort, and fatigue in the feet and lower legs. Flat foot can be congenital or acquired due to factors such as obesity, injury, or hypermobility. Treatment options may include supportive footwear, arch supports or custom orthotics, exercises to strengthen the muscles in the foot and leg, and in severe cases, surgery to correct the deformity.
