Morton’s neuroma is a painful condition that affects the nerves between the toes, most commonly between the third and fourth toes. It occurs when the tissue surrounding the nerve thickens and compresses the nerve, causing symptoms such as sharp, shooting pain, burning sensation, tingling, or numbness in the affected area. This condition is often caused by wearing tight shoes, high heels, or participating in activities that put repetitive pressure on the foot. Treatment options include wearing supportive shoes, using metatarsal pads or orthotics, physical therapy, and in severe cases, injections or surgery to relieve the pressure on the nerve.
