Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction (PTTD) is a condition that affects the posterior tibial tendon, which runs along the inside of the ankle and foot. PTTD occurs when this tendon becomes inflamed or damaged, leading to pain, swelling, and a progressive flattening of the arch of the foot. This condition is commonly caused by overuse, injury, or underlying medical conditions such as obesity or arthritis. Treatment options may include rest, physical therapy, orthotics, braces, and in severe cases, surgery to repair or reconstruct the damaged tendon.
